"Teaching the instrument today"
Frédéric Audibert, cellist, Jade Sapolin, director of the Académie Rainier III and Clarissa Severo de Borba, director of the Conservatoire de Nice, moderated by Bruno Mantovani, artistic director of the festival.
In the 19th century, the teaching of music and instrumental practice saw the emergence of a host of methods, touting their objective effectiveness in leading the apprentice musician towards the most technically challenging works in the repertoire. Are the challenges the same today? How can we teach the instrument in the 21st century? As part of the "carte blanche aux conservatoires" day, Bruno Mantovani - himself a conservatory director - talks to some of his colleagues.
