Created by Ravel in 1925 in Monte-Carlo to a libretto by Colette (whose 150th birthday we celebrate this year), L'Enfant et les Sortilèges was a favorite of H.S.H. Prince Rainier III. Jean-Christophe Maillot's new creation brings together 240 artists on stage to give life to a large-scale show that Ravel had already imagined as a musical before its time. Before unveiling this extraordinary creation, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo will perform George Balanchine's La Valse: a return to the roots of this ballet, performed 20 years ago, which Prince Rainier III also loved.
